A tiny boy who was born at just
1lb 3oz and given a one in 10 chance of surviving is about to celebrate his
first birthday. Miracle baby Benjamin Astbury, conceived through IVF, arrived
12 weeks early and was the smallest baby ever born at Wrexham Maelor Hospital
in North Wales.
He suffered five cardiac arrests,
and his parents were told on several occasions he would not have the strength
to come through the health problems he faced.
But Benjamin's remarkable fight
for survival has gone better than could ever have been expected and now the
tiny tot will be one on 15th of April.
Little Benjamin now weighs in at
about 13lbs. His proud mum Taniya, 36, from Buckley, said she admits
"miracles do happen". See a photo of Benjamin below when he was born.
